The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria 4th Edition (Adult) is the most widely used and comprehensive set of guidelines for assessment, placement, treatment planning, transition and continued service criteria for clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Treatment providers and program evaluators use patient placement criteria to ensure that clients receive the appropriate level of care based on person-centered needs. This 3-hour virtual training will facilitate an understanding the updated Continuum of Care, implementation of the Level of Care Assessment and Dimensional Admission Criteria (Risk Rating). Additionally, updated Transition and Continued Service Criteria will be reviewed. A case study will be utilized demonstrating how to implement the updated 4th Edition within practice. Level of Care Utilization System (LOCUS) will be compared to ASAM 4th Edition related to determining level of care.
